Hi, I wonder whether i3 is a non-reparenting wm or not, so that I can set the _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING option properly for jvm.

i3 is a reparenting window manager. However, it does have the oddity (as of 4.11, I am in the process of hopefully changing this) that window decorations are not drawn on the window's frame, but on the window's parent container's frame.

Thanks! So I do not have to set _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING, right?

You shouldn't have to, no. I'm not setting it either and I do use Java applications :)
