Looking at the user guide, I can only find ways to resize in an incremental fashion.

Is it possible to directly set the size of a floating window?

Answer by dkeg for
I have a VM guest that I want it to run in a floating window with fixed size, say, 1440x900, so that it looks good.

possible example:

assign [class="VMWare"] [ VM ]

Usual disclaimer: If you are using floating windows for anything that is not a password pop-up dialog or similar, you are not using i3 as intended.

Comment by bryan for
No, not without a third-party script.

And after I thought it for a while, I decided that I should not try hard and adapt to the VM guest but adapt the VM guest to my windows and workspaces.
