I'm at the i3 desktop, but when I hit Alt+Enter, nothing happens. I can however change the workspaces by hitting Alt+&lt;1..10&gt; (this seems to be the only thing I can do).

See "man i3-sensible-terminal" for a list of terminals that it will attempt to start.
