I realized, my laptop changed addresses this morning: $ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3286 x 1353, maximum 32767 x 32767 LVDS2 connected 1366x768+0+585 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 194mm 1366x768 60.1*+ 1360x768 59.8 60.0 1024x768 60.0 800x600 60.3 56.2 640x480 59.9 VGA2 connected 1920x1200+1366+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 518mm x 324mm 1920x1200 60.0*+ 1600x1200 60.0 1680x1050 60.0 1600x1000 60.0 1280x1024 75.0 1440x900 59.9 1280x960 60.0 1152x864 75.0 1280x720 60.0 1024x768 75.1 60.0 832x624 74.6 800x600 75.0 60.3 640x480 75.0 60.0 720x400 70.1 HDMI2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) DP1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) LVDS-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) VGA-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) HDMI-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) LVDS1 is now LVDS2 and VGA1 is now VGA2. I have no idea why this happened, but all my rules for i3bar and xrandr handling are now wrong. In case of i3bar I just added another output line. For xrandr I wrote a little script handling this case. I wonder if others observed this situation.
