I just want to run GUI programs as root. Such as unetbootin.

There is a way i'm sure !
I tried i3-msg exec su -c unetbootin
but of course it would never ask me for the password.
I also tried doing i3-msg exec unetbootin as root, didn't work ("i3-msg: Could not connect to i3 on socket "/tmp/i3-ipc.sock": No such file or directory").

Any idea ?

Cheers !

Now that gksu is installed, when launching unetbootin from a terminal, I get asked for root password. I think unetbootin tries gksu/gksudo/whatever gives root rights. Before all this I had kind of a "cannot connect to display :0" or something !

Comment by gagou9 for
Gksudo?
