How do I create a new workspace without having to explicitly specify the number? Example: I am on workspace `2` and I want to create a new workspace. Can I tell `i3` to automatically create whatever number is next in the series without me telling it to create workspace `3`?

Answer by joepd for
Hi

But have a look at [this discussion](https://faq.i3wm.org/question/995/automatically-create-next-numbered-workspace-in-current-screen/), on possibilities on how to implement this externally.
