I am running on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise and i3. I am trying to get the system wide Emacs keybinding (e.g., M-a to the start and M-e to the end for any input field) to work but couldn't:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-key-theme "Emacs"

(from http:// askubuntu.com/ questions/181532/emacs-keybindings-in-ubuntu-12-04)

..does not work for me.

Does anyone know how to get it working? Thanks in advance :)
