How to keep pidgin from stealing focus
If I have a pidgin chat window on the same workspace as I am working in, and a new message comes it, it will steal focus. Is there a way to prevent that?

I am using a pidgin plugin called "Message Notification" (on ubuntu it is part of the 'pidgin-plugin-pack' package).
After a installing the plugin and a restart of pidgin go to 'Tools->Plugins'. In the list enable the "Message Notification" and press the 'Configure Plugin' Button. In the dialog disable the checkboxes at 'Raise conversation window' and 'Present conversation window'. Close the dialog and the plugin list, that should be it.
