My first problem is I cannot get split to work. I downloaded i3 from ubuntu software center and am currently in it. All the commands have worked fine except split. I can go over anything and press mod h or mod v and nothing happens.
Sorry if these are simple questions. Still a new linux user and this is my first day with i3.
The effects of a split will only be visible after you open a new window. Also note that there is a light blue line at the bottom or at the right of the current window (depending on the orientation of your split) that will show up to indicate that your window was split and new windows will be opened where the line is.
