Lock of the mouse cursor for a moment

Is there a way to lock (or even hide) the mouse cursor for a moment (so it won't move) and then restore it to normal work?

It would be perfect if it could be done simply with a shortcut.

I thought about it because there were several situations when I had some windows on the screen and an accidental mouse movement made the window I was typing in lose focus.

Or maybe there is another way to prevent an active window from losing focus?

You can try to put

focus_follows_mouse no

in your i3 config. Focus changes will be done on mouse-click, not on mouse-over.
