for_window on workspace

Is there a way to have a rule that matches all windows spawned on a particular workspace? Something like a command criteria [workspace=].

No, but a patch for that would be accepted. Send it to http://cr.i3wm.org/ and make sure you read http://i3wm.org/docs/hacking-howto.html before.
