how to add pidgin to i3status
Hi,
I am using i3 4.0.1 that installed in centos6.5 via epel. I am looking for how to add pidgin to i3status

4.0.1 is quite dated and does not have the ability to show tray icons yet. If you use a more recent version of i3 (current stable: 4.7) the tray icon of pidgin will be shown in the i3bar.

Really? The most recent CentOS uses this antiquated piece of software? This might be of help: https://faq.i3wm.org/question/68/how-to-build-and-install-i3-from-sources/, but really, the i3 package needs some love on the rpm side of the universe...
i3 isn't even in the core distribution of CentOS. Also, CentOS is very ... conservative in regards to current versions of nearly everything (somtimes even more than Debian). So there may not even be all necessary libraries and recent enough versions thereof available to compile i3 4.7.
