I have a window showing a virtualized Windows7. W7 captures every wm keyboard shortcut, so I need to move the mouse out of the window to be able to send shortcuts to i3.

Windows7 is running in kvm/qemu/libvirt, with Spice monitor and QXL video card.

Is it possible for the window manager to capture these shortcuts?

Do you have Windows guest drivers installed?

I have just installed serial, storage, balloon and network. No difference. I tried also to disable the Windows Key with KeyMapper. No success neither.

Finally got it working with SPICE_NOGRAB=1. Thanks a lot. http://listarc.com/showthread.php?4965005-virt-viewer+keyboard+handling

Another solution: if you're using multiple monitors, you can move your mouse from the Windows VM to another monitor, then type your command.
