Window not automatically focused when application started from terminal.

After upgrading to 3.9.1 from 3.8 the behavior of i3 changed. When I start a new application from terminal, the new window is not automatically focused. It is different then in the older version and quite cumbersome. Something changed? Is it now configurable?

It actually happens with just one application - namely mupdf. What can be the reason?
