can't type in terminal

whenever i start i3 or any other tiling wm, I can't type into the terminal. I can type into any other program, like nightly, and it works fine. I just can't type into terminal.

Which of the many terminals have you tried? How you start 'em? Do you get a window for the terminal? And a prompt at all?

try changing colors in profile. when i first used i3, colors defaulted to black text on black background.

Try changing the color of your font/background, I just had the same problem.
