Mouse-resizing across container boundaries [closed]

Whenever I have a set of windows in a container, I can't resize them with mod-right-dragging near the border, though it works for the single window next to the container. Is this a bug?

For example, if I have a vertical split of two windows as the left child of a horizontal split, I can't mouse-resize the divider of the horizontal split from within the nested vertical split, but I can resize it from the single window on the other side. This should be made clearer by the following diagram where O designates where I'm clicking:

Are you using the latest i3 version, i.e. 4.6?
