How can I use i3lock with fingerprint-gui

I really like i3lock and would like to unlock it with the fingerprint reader on my lenovo W530 (Upek 0x147e). The fingerprint reader works flawlessly with fingerprint-gui. To unlock the PC on login I added

auth sufficient pam_fingerprint-gui.so

to /etc/pam.d/login.

I tried to add the same line to /etc/pam.d/i3lock to no avail.
