i3bar Wifi disconnected

asked 2012-06-06 15:56:26 +0000

I don't know if it only happens with me. In previous versions of i3wm, the default bar showed values all in white, and the wifi info worked just fine, displaying "down" when disconnected.

I started using dzen to get it coloured (the newer version makes this obsolete for me), and since then I have this weird message instead:

# in green color
W: (100% at ) no IP

even though my interfaces are down:

bruno@mac17: ~ $ ifconfig
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
          inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
          RX packets:4247 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:4247 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:261343 (261.3 KB) TX bytes:261343 (261.3 KB)
 bruno@mac17: ~ $

I will post a snapshot of this (can not upload images here directly).

I wonder why this happens. Any thoughts?

This is not related to dzen2. Also, you have colors when using i3 4.2 and i3status 2.5.1.

The WiFi things work for me, it’s probably related to your driver. I think this question doesn’t fit here, so please create a ticket at http://bugs.i3wm.org/ with more information — which version of i3, i3bar, which driver, etc.
